This is quite a long story, but it has to start somewhere –
This is the Chandler Farmhouse in all her glory – what she looked like when I first laid eyes on her. Pretty, right?
Living in Colorado, you don’t see this style house very often. I was instantly obsessed, so obsessed that I wanted to purchase the house right where it was and live happily ever after. The public record showed that this beauty was owned by a large brewery corporation that used the land all around for crop production testing. This corporation was so large that when I tried contacting the real estate department again and again (for years… actually years), they would never get back to me, just close my inquiry.
At what point do you give up? It takes a lot for me to give up on something I am passionate about. I hadn’t even seen the inside of the house but I knew I wanted it.
Fast forward a year or so and my mom called me and said “The Giddings house got broken into, the door is kicked in and it’s wide open.” This lit a large fire under me to step. it. up! I spent probably 8 hours on the phone that day. I called the police department, the corporation, the local brewery, anyone I could think of that could help keep this house safe from being completely destroyed.
